Mushrooms Vs an Old God
Original one of a kind wood burned egg. Drawn and burned by hand. About 5 inches in height and 3 inches wide, at the widest part.
This is one of my first wood burnings where I’ve mixed my two different styles, the abstract and nature inspired. I wanted it to feel like an otherworldly creature was reaching down to engulf the mushrooms. Yet, as mushrooms overcome death by devouring it, they cannot be taken over. While the tentacles seem to overshadow, the future death of such a god will be the fresh fodder to mushrooms waiting below.
I loved creating this piece. It was a wonderful challenge to see how my styles could co-exist and work together.
